The EECP Treatment Process: Step by Step From Evaluation to Recovery

How does the process work, from your first inquiry about EECP treatment to completing the program? On this page, we walk through every step in detail — from the initial evaluation to what a session involves, from the impact on daily life to the follow-up process.

At EECP Kıbrıs, your treatment process is planned specifically around your heart condition. The standard program consists of a total of 35 sessions over approximately 7 weeks , scheduled 5 days a week for one hour a day. Throughout the process, Prof. Dr. Osman Beton and our clinical team monitor your treatment closely and can update the plan whenever needed.

1

Initial Consultation and Application

The process begins with a brief initial application, either by phone or through the "Is EECP Right for Me?" test on our website. At this stage, we gather basic information about your current symptoms, your past heart treatments (such as bypass, stent, or a history of heart attack), and your general health.

2

Medical Evaluation

Following an examination by Prof. Dr. Osman Beton, tests such as an ECG, echocardiography, and exercise stress test are used, where necessary, to assess your heart function and your suitability for EECP. This stage is critical for planning your treatment safely and effectively.

3

A Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on the evaluation results, the number of sessions, their frequency, and cuff pressure levels are planned specifically for you. The treatment plan can be readjusted as needed based on your response throughout the process.

4

EECP Sessions (35 Sessions / 7 Weeks)

The standard treatment program consists of a total of 35 sessions, scheduled 5 days a week for one hour a day. In each session, cuffs are wrapped around your legs and the treatment is applied in sync with your heart rhythm. Rest days between sessions help your body adapt to the treatment.

5

Follow-Up and Evaluation

After completing the treatment, a follow-up appointment is scheduled to assess your progress. Changes in your symptoms, your exercise capacity, and your overall quality of life are reviewed together; additional sessions may be recommended if needed.

SESSION EXPERIENCE

What Happens During an EECP Session?

Preparation You lie down on the clinic bed in comfortable clothing. Cuffs are placed around your calves, thighs, and hips, and ECG electrodes are attached to your chest. A 60-Minute Session The device reads your ECG and inflates and deflates the cuffs in sync with your heart rhythm. During this time, you can rest, listen to music, or even sleep. After the Session Once the cuffs are removed, you can leave the clinic immediately and continue with your daily activities, work, or driving. No anesthesia or recovery time is needed.

DAILY LIFE

How Does the Treatment Process Affect Your Daily Life?

One of the biggest advantages of EECP is that it doesn't interrupt your daily life. Since it involves no anesthesia or surgical intervention, there's no need to wait after a session — you can go to work, drive, and continue your normal activities. Many of our patients prefer to fit the treatment program around their work or daily routine, which is why we take care to schedule appointments at times that suit you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions About the Treatment Process

Is it mandatory to complete all 35 sessions?

Completing the standard 35-session program is recommended for the best results. However, the treatment plan can be personalized based on your doctor's assessment.

Should I take sessions consecutively or spread them out?

The standard protocol recommends sessions on 5 consecutive days a week; rest days (such as weekends) are built into the program and help your body adapt to the treatment.

Missing a single session generally doesn't disrupt the treatment plan; our clinical team can rearrange your schedule accordingly. Regular attendance is recommended whenever possible.

Can I continue taking my medications during treatment?
